Streamlining Critical Care: The CorrMed Tac Medics Response Bag

During high stress situations, when mental bandwidth is often strained, quick and easy access to essential equipment is crucial. Optimised for UK police forces, including Firearms, Surveillance, Public Order, and Roads Policing Units, the CorrMed Tac Medics Response Bag offers exceptional performance and practicality.

Design and Development

In the creation of this highly specialised bag, we undertook extensive market research. Informed by frontline insights from police teams, we developed our first design in close partnership with the City of London Police. We discovered that there hadn’t been a bag designed both for and by Firearms, which meant the majority other bags on the market weren’t suitable. That’s why we designed the Tac Medics Response Bag with enough space to carry a full oxygen bottle, airways, BVM, and defibrillator, along with a further 5 pouches for other equipment, including a specially designed Cat Bleed and Penthrox pouch.

Functional Layout

The Tac Medics Response Bag is engineered to optimise efficient primary surveys, including both (C)ABCDE and MARCH, enabling teams to layout the required equipment conveniently, regardless of which survey their force follows.

Upon unzipping the bag, either side can lay flat (like opening a book) to provide a portable tool station. Critical equipment is presented to you in a logical sequence, from initial assessment through to intervention. With our design, each item has a designated home, saving tactical medics precious time and energy.  No more kit explosions or rummaging in pouches to find that essential piece of equipment.

Additionally, the clear organisation makes it immediately apparent what’s missing, decreasing the time it takes to restock.

Strategic Accessibility

The design incorporates valuable input from specialist teams such as those from West Midlands Police, Avon and Somerset Police, and West Mercia. This collaborative effort led to innovative features like the external cat bleed pouch, deliberately positioned in a pocket on the outside of the bag where it is easily accessible for rapid deployment.

This strategic layout not only prevents chaotic "bag explosions" but also supports rapid access to vital tools. It is these refinements that set the Tac Medics Response Bag apart from others on the market, as it is tailored for and informed by the realities of front-line responders.

Versatility and Organisation

The robust medical bag accommodates two trauma pouches, which is essential when attending multiple casualties. Whether carrying one or two trauma pouches, the flexible design enables users to store trauma either inside OR outside the bag, or both should two be required.  The layout ensures you can easily see where each item is ensuring quick access to kit in time sensitive situations.

This organisational innovation is paired with colour-coded pouches and quick-release finger tabs, supporting human factors by enhancing functionality within critical, time-sensitive environments. Additionally, we feature clear inserts into every pouch for police teams to utilise their own labelling systems, with the ability to use both traditional labels and QR codes.

Durability and Covert Operations

Beyond its functionality, the Tac Medics Response Bag offers superior durability. Constructed with a water-resistant hard shell exterior, reinforced corners and rivets, tamperproof zips, and heavy-duty 500-denier tarpaulin (Tarpex), the bag operates perfectly within the harshest conditions. Fully wipeable inside and out, all CorrMed bags are IPC-compliant to support the most rigorous infection control standards.

Considering its deployment in covert operations, we opted for an entirely black exterior without high-visibility elements to keep its wearer discreet. Even the backpack straps and padded waist straps have been specifically tailored to be worn over body armour, while the grab handles are designed to sit flush with one another, allowing both sides of the bag’s weight to be supported when removing the bag from a vehicle.

This versatility and highly considered design has been exceptionally well received, having sold over half of our stock in its first production through pre orders alone. With our first run of deliveries being made this month, the Tac Medics Response Bag provides the optimal design for efficiency and effectiveness in critical situations, resonating beyond police forces to Fire and Rescue services like Cornwall Fire Service, who also had input on the design. This wider adoption underscores the bag's superior design and practicality across various emergency response units, reinforcing the bag's role as a reliable asset in high-stakes medical interventions.
